Lagos State Government have given a total sum of N26 Million Naira to 13 Ebola Virus Disease survivor to enable them start a new life after fighting and surviving Ebola. Governor Fashola described the gesture as
”A support to the heroes and heroines of the Ebola-Free Nigeria, noted that the gesture was not a compensation but an act of showing compassion for a group of highly patriotic Nigerians who rescued the nation from a deadly epidemic at their own expense.”
He explained that each of the 13 survivors and relatives of the dead victims would get N2 million each as government support for their humanitarian service during the containment while the First Consultant Medical Centre; who bore the brunt of the outbreak of the disease would get N50 million adding that the State government will also support the facility in any way it can to bring the facility back to business.
